d its new silicon, which its hardware partners then take and either customize to their own liking -- beefed up cooling solutions, for example -- or simply replicate and slap their own logo on the box. In a somewhat similar fashion, Nvidia just announced Tegra Note, a full-fledged tablet platform running its Tegra 4 System-on-Chip (SoC).
Nvidia isn't going to launch its own brand tablet around Tegra Note, but its hardware partners will, including EVGA, PNY, and Zotac. So, what does a reference Tegra Note tablet look like?
In addition to Tegra 4, Tegra Note sports a 7-inch HD (1280x800) IPS display, 16GB of built-in storage flanked by a microSD card slot, 5MP rear-facing camera, VGA webcam, front-facing HD Audio stereo speakers, micro HDMI output, stylus support, and the latest version of Android with over-the-air (OTA) software updates provided directly by Nvidia. As for battery life, Nvidia says Tegra Note is capable of 10 hours of HD playback.
The starting price is $199, though expect some fluctuation as Nvidia's hardware partners add their own flair and customizations to the reference tablet design.
